The Office of Harm Reduction provides free Narcan and harm reduction tools, educates the community members about the current situation of Opioid Epidemic, and describes how to address the growing death rate from opioid overdose. The purpose of the Opioid Overview/Narcan training is to equip our community members with the knowledge and skills to effectively respond to opioid overdoses. The training aims to educate community members about the signs of an overdose, how to administer Narcan (the medication that can reverse the effects of opioids), and how to access emergency medical services. In addition to equipping community members with life-saving skills, we provide data and statistics to shed light on the alarming situation of the Opioid Epidemic in Erie County. Participants are presented with current and relevant information about the prevalence of opioid use disorder, overdose rates, and the impact of opioids on individuals, families, and communities. The training seeks to raise awareness and foster a greater understanding of the urgent need for action and to empower community members to save lives and prevent opioid-related fatalities in their neighborhoods.
The invitation to attend will be sent to registered PAWNY members on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd. Once you receive it, feel free to share with any family and friends who may want to attend. At the end of the presentation, a link will be provided for all attendees to request a Narcan kit and their certificate of training. Registration is limited to 100 participants.
Participants will receive a Narcan kit for their home or office as well as a Certificate of Training.
Registration Deadline: Monday, October 21st.
